Directions: From Church Street West continue along the R27 to Hartbeespoort Dam. At the fourway stop with the R511, carry straight on. The entrance, Pelindaba Gate 1, is about 6,5 km along this road to the left. Follow the signs to the Phaladingwe trail and the Preller House Restaurant, bearing right before the security gate and turning right shortly thereafter. Meet in the trail parking area. Distance from Pretoria-West is about 25 km. An entrance fee of about R15 is payable.
Roete: Ry vanaf Kerkstraat-wes met die R27 na die Hartbeespoortdam. By die vierrigtingkruising met die R511, gaan reguit oor. Die ingang, Pelindaba Hek 1, is ongeveer 6,5 km verder aan die linkerkant. Volg die tekens na die Phaladingwe voetslaanroete en die Prellerhuis Restaurant, hou regs voor die sekuriteitsheks en draai regs kort daarna. Ontmoet in die parkeerterrein van die voetslaanroete. Afstand vanaf Pretoria-Wes is ongeveer 25 km. Toegangsgeld van ongeveer R15 per persoon is betaalbaar.

Directions: Take the N1 north to the Pyramid offramp. Turn left and drive for 6,5 km to the T_junction on the old Pretoria-Warmbaths road (R101). Turn right and travel for 1,5 km. Turn right onto the Rooiwal/Mabopane road. Follow this road over the R101 and continue for 12 km to a T_junction on the Mabopane road. Turn right and travel for 16 km. Take the dirt road to the left at the Tswaing sign immediately before a small shop. The entrance is on the left after 1,5 km. Meet at the entrance. Total distance from Pretoria is 50 km. Aanwysings: Ry met die N1 noord en draai links by die Pyramid_afrit. Ry 6,5 km tot by ‘n T_aansluiting op die ou Pretoria/Warmbadpad. Draai regs en ry ongeveer 1,5 km. Draai weer regs op die Rooiwal/Mabopanepad. Volg hierdie pad bo_oor die Warmbadpad, en ry 12 km tot by ‘n T_aansluiting. Draai regs en ry 16 km. By die Tswaing/Soutpan teken, net voor jy ‘n klein winkeltjie bereik, draai links op ‘n grondpad. Die ingang is 1,5 km verder aan die linkerkant. Totale afstand van Pretoria ongeveer 50 km.

13-16 April - Camp at Botsalano

This reserve lies in the North-West Province a short distance from Zeerust near the Botswana border. It is a known locality for the Short-clawed Lark and other interesting bushveld species. Accomodation at this point in time is confined to camping. Please enquire nearer to the time about the availability of alternative accomodation and for more information about costs and facilities.
Hierdie reservaat is geleë in die Noordwes Provinsie, nie te ver van Zeerust af nie naby die Botswanagrens. benewens ander bosveldspesies is dit bekend dat die Kortkloulewerik hier voorkom. Tans is akkommodasie beperk tot kampering. Doen nader aan die tyd navraag oor moontlike alternatiewe akkommodasie en meer inligting oor kostes en fasiliteite.

All past and potential leaders are invited to come and share ideas on how to lead an outing effectively. We will do some birding in the dense Acacia woodland along the Pienaars River as well.
Directions: Take the Zambezi Drive offramp from the N1, turn towards Cullinan and then left onto the R573 towards KwaMhlanga about 1 km from the freeway. After 7 km turn left to Buffelsdrift, and after about 32 km you will come to a water reservoir on the left. We will meet along the road at this point.
Alle vorige en toekomstige leiers word genooi om idees te kom wissel oor hoe om ‘n uistappie doeltreffend te lei. Ons sal ook voëls kyk in die digte akasia boomveld langs die Pienaarsrivier.
Aanwysings: Neem die Zambezi- afrit uit die N1, draai na Cullinan en dan links op die R573 na KwaMhlanga omtrent 1 km vanaf die snelweg. Na 7 km draai links na Buffelsdrift, en na 32 km sal u ‘n waterreservoir aan die linkerkant sien. Ons ontmoet hier.

Directions: From the N1, take the Botha Avenue turn-off to Irene. At the 4-way stop in the village of Irene, turn left. Go under the railway line and take the first road to the right (Jan Smuts Avenue). Follow the tree lined avenue to the Smuts house Museum on your left as you start to go up the hill. Meet at the gates of the museum.
Koste: R30 pp vir klublede en R40 pp vir nie-lede. Bespreking is noodsaaklik vir hierdie uitstappie - skakel asb vir Jeanette. Ontbyt en ‘n voëllys is by die prys ingesluit.
Aanwysings: Vanaf die N1, neem die Bothalaan afrit na Irene. Draai links by die vierrigtingstop in Irene. Gaan onder die spoorlyn deur en neem die eerste pad na regs (Jan Smutslaan). Volg hierdie boomryke laan tot by die Smutshuis Museum aan u linkerkant. Ontmoet by die hek van die museum.

13 Mei - Seringveld & Roodeplaat Dam NR

This outing combines the mixed woodland of the Roodeplaat area, with the unique broadleaf woodland of the Seringveld. A number of interesting birds such as Tinkling Cisticola can be expected. Braai facilities will be available at lunchtime at the Roodeplaat NR. Entrance fees are payable.
Directions: From the N1, take the Zambesi/Cullinan offramp and turn right towards Cullinan. Cross the first major intersection and ignore the first turn to Roodeplaat Dam on the left. Continue for 5 km from the N1 and take the left turn to "Kameelfontein/Kameeldrift". After 3,6 km turn left where the Roodeplaat NR is signposted. Meet at the gates.
Hierdie uitstappie kombineer die gemengde boomveld van die Roodeplaatgebied met die unieke breëblaarboomveld van die Seringveld. ‘n Paar interessante voëls soos Rooitinktinkie kan verwag word. Braaifasiliteite sal teen middagete by die Roodeplaat NR beskikbaar wees. ‘n Toegangsfooi is betaalbaar.
Aanwysings: Vanaf die N1, neem die Zambezi/Cullinan afrit. Draai regs op die R513 na Cullinan. Na ongeveer 6 km draai links na Kameelfontein/Kameeldrift (ignoreer die eerste afdraai na Roodeplaatdam). Na 3,6 km draai links en volg die grondpad vir 500 m tot by die ingang. Ontmoet hier.

Directions: Take the old Warmbaths road (R101) north from the Wonderboom Nature Reserve for about 3 km. Turn left at the Onderstepoort/Rosslyn sign. After about 500 m turn right towards Onderstepoort. The entrance to Kaalplaas is about 2,8 km further on the left. Meet here.
Bring asb. u eie stoele en piekniekmandjies. Geen braaifasiliteite is beskikbaar nie.
Roete: Van die Wonderboom Natuurreservaat, ry met die ou Warmbad-pad, die R101, vir ongeveer 3 km. Draai links by die Onderstepoort/Rosslyn teken. Na ongeveer 500 m draai regs na Onderstepoort. Die ingang na Kaalplaas is ongeveer 2,8 km verder aan die linkerkant. Ontmoet by die ingang.

3 Junie - Kranskop

Directions: Take the N1 north to the Kranskop Tollgate and turn left unto the R33 to Nylstroom. The first game fence on the right hand side is already the farm – continue to the first speed restriction sign and on the right hand side you will see cream concrete gate posts with a thatch roof which is the entrance to the farm. This is not further than 1 km from the highway.
Aanwysings: Neem die N1 noord tot by die Kranskop tolhek en draai links op die R33 na Nylstroom. Die eerste wilddraad aan die regterkant is reeds diè van die plaas. Ry tot by die eerste spoedbeperkingsteken waar die ingang van die plaas aan die regterkant is - roomkleurige betonhekpale met ‘n grasdak. Dit is minder as 1 km van die snelweg af.

24 Junie - De Tweede Spruit

This venue lies at the heart of the De Tweede Spruit conservancy and is characterised by broadleaf woodland habitat with some rocky areas and a small river.
Directions: From the N1 north take the R513 offramp to Cullinan (Zambezi Drive). Travel in the direction of Cullinan past the R573 Kwamahlanga and Kameeldrift turnoffs, until you reach the second turnoff to Kwamahlanga marked (R573). Turn left here and proceed for 9 km until you reach a T-junction. Turn left onto the tarred road and remain on this road until you reach a sign board showing De Tweede Spruit. Turn right here and proceed on this dirt road for 5 km until you reach two old stone pillars forming a gate entrance on the left hand side just before you cross a small river. Meet here at 08:00 sharp as we will proceed to the farm from here. Distance from the Zambezi Drive offramp is approx. 40 km.
Hierdie plek in die hart van die De Tweede Spruit Bewaringsgebied word gekenmerk deur breëblaarboomveld met ‘n paar rotsagtige gebiede en ‘n klein stroompie.
Aanwysings: Vanaf die N1 noord, neem die Cullinan/Zambezilaan afrit. Ry in die rigting van Cullinan verby die R573 Kwamahlanga en Kameeldrif afdraaipaaie. Draai links by die tweede afdraai na Kwamahlanga, gemerk (R573) en hou op hierdie pad vir 9 km tot by ‘n T-aansluiting. Draai links op die teerpad en hou op hierdie pad tot by die De Tweede Spruit naambord. Draai regs en hou op die grondpad vir 5 km tot by twee ou klippilare wat ‘n ingang vorm aan die linkerkant, net voor die kruising met ‘n klein riviertjie. Ontmoet hier stiptelik om 08:00 - ons ry van hier af verder na die plaas toe. Dit is ongeveer 40 km van die Zambezilaan afrit.

Directions: Take the R511 Thabazimbi Road north from Brits. After about 36 km, immediately after crossing the railway bridge, turn left on the road signposted Vaalkop Dam. After about 4 km turn right at the T-junction. Follow this road for about 12 km and turn left at the Vaalkop Dam sign. The entrance is on the right, about 1 km along this dirt road. Meet at the entrance gate to the Reserve. Total distance from the west side of Pretoria is about 95 km.
The Hex River side of Vaalkop Dam has been re-opened and will be visited during this outing. This returns Vaalkop Dam to its former status as one of the best birding localities close to Pretoria, and one can expect to see a wide variety of bushveld and water birds.
Aanwysings: Ry met die Thabazimbi-pad (R511) noord van Brits. Na ongeveer 36 km, onmiddelik na die spoorwegbrug, draai links op die Vaalkopdam pad. Na ongeveer 4 km, draai regs by die T-aansluiting. Volg hierdie pad vir ongeveer 12 km en draai links by die Vaalkopdam teken. Na ongeveer 1 km is die ingang aan die regterkant van die pad. Ontmoet mekaar by die ingang. Totale afstand van die westekant van Pretoria is ongeveer 95 km.

Meet at 08:00 at the gate of Roets’s farm. Birding, along the Zaagkuidrif road, will end at Wolfhuiskraal where braai facilities will be available.
Directions: Take the N1 north to the Rust de Winter/Pienaarsrivier offramp and turn left to Pienaarsrivier. At the T-junction with the old Warmbaths road (R101) turn right. After crossing the bridge, turn left immediately at the Zaagkuildrift sign. Cross the railway tracks and turn right at the next Zaagkuildrift sign. Meet here. Total distance from Pretoria is about 65 km.
Ontmoet by die hek van Roets se plaas. Die oggend se voëlkyk, wat beplan word al langs die Zaagkuildrifpad, sal eindig by Wolfhuiskraal, waar braaigeriewe beskikbaar isal wees.
Aanwysings: Ry met die N1 noord tot by die Rust de Winter/Pienaarsrivier afrit en draai links na Pienaarsrivier. By die T-aansluiting met die ou Warmbadpad (R101) draai regs. Sodra u oor die brug is, draai links by die Zaagkuildrift teken. Gaan oor die spoorlyn en draai regs by die volgende Zaagkuildrift teken. Ontmoet hier. Totale afstand van Pretoria is ongeveer 65 km.
