10. NKANDLA FOREST

(67 kms from Melmoth Post Office)

KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Services.
No permit is required.
Strongly recommended - take a guide with you.

Take the Babanango road from Melmoth and follow this tarred road to the Nkandla turn off. Proceed to Nkandla Forest for some amazing birds including Knysna Lourie, Orange Thrush, White-starred Robin, Malachite Sunbird, Bush Blackcap, Yellow-throated Woodland Warbler, Grey Cuckoo Shrike and Forest Canary. The Nkandla forest area is home to some 147 species.
