South Africa and Wider Gauteng - 100K(Jo'burg-Pretoria)Listing Clubs

We host two listing clubs of relevance to South African and African Birders. The most important is the South African (600)Club - with a threshold of 600 species.

The The wider Gauteng (100K) listing club (also known as the Johannesburg-Pretoria Region Listing Club) focusses on wider Gauteng, and has a threshold of 200 species. We do however list anyone who is keeping a list for this region. The region is defined in terms of a distance of 100km from Johannesburg and Pretoria and more information is available here.

On an experimental basis we also host a live listing functionality. This has been developed by Kevin Ravno of Natworld, and allows birders to keep their "year" or "life" lists "live" on the web-site. Currently a number of birders are keeping South African 2011 and Gauteng Region 2011 lists. This page is here.

The Wider Gauteng (100K) list and the South Africa list are maintained by Etienne Marais - to submit or update your total, please send an e-mail using the contact link at the bottom of this page.

The Southern African 700 Club is a list of birders who have submitted totals of over 700 species for the Southern African Region.

This includes Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Mozambique south of the Zambezi River. This list is maintained by Trevor Hardaker and the list totals appears at Zestforbirds.co.za
