Eastern Endemics Circuit and Kruger Park 19 - 23 July 2006 2 Places available on this tour Summary This short birding tour aims to present a comprehensive cross-section of South African birding, while staying within the restrictions of modest driving distances and accounting for the fact that this trip takes place in the winter months. The tour samples a variety of the habitat types in Eastern South Africa, including arid "north-west" woodland, highveld grassland, afro-montane forest and lowland savannah and woodland. Expectations are 270+ species with over 60 regional endemics/near-endemics. Tour Summary Wednesday 19 July (Day 1): Dinokeng Area Birding in the diverse woodlands and wetlands of Dinokeng. Thursday 20 July (Day 2): Rust de Winter to Magoebaskloof Birding in the bird-rich north-west arid woodlands, Polokwane and Kurisa Moya Nature Lodge. Friday 21 July (Day 3): Magoebaskloof to the Kruger National Park Superb forest birding at Magoebaskloof, followed by a drive into the National Park Saturday 22 July (Day 4): Kruger National Park From Letaba through to Satara, Skukuza and on to Pretoriuskop. Sunday 23 July (Day 5): Kruger National Park - to Johannesburg Morning birding in the park, afternoon drive back to Johannesburg.
